He began his career studying the global automotive industry at R.L.Polk before joining the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), from which he retired in 2018.  He has over 30 years of researching the automotive industry.  His current research topics include intelligent transportation systems (ITS), information technology, powertrain strategies, and globalization of the automotive industry.

About Bruce M. Belzowski:

Bruce M. Belzowski, Managing Director, Automotive Futures Research Group, received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Michigan, respectively.  He trained in research at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research while a graduate student. He began his career studying the global automotive industry at R.L.Polk before joining the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), from which he retired in 2018.  
 
Over his 30 years of researching the automotive industry, he has authored research reports focusing on a variety of automotive topics including product development, manufacturer-supplier-dealer relations, globalization, information technology, knowledge management, and human resources.  His current research topics include intelligent transportation systems (ITS), information technology, powertrain strategies, and globalization of the automotive industry. He is widely quoted in the mainstream press, as well as in the academic arena. He has testified before the US Congress on automotive globalization issues and speaks at conferences around the world.
 
Bruce mentors students at the University of Michigan while continuing to conduct research, put on five conferences a year, and manage his Affiliate Program.  He is also a steering committee member of the GERPISA global automotive research group in France.
