OU to celebrate Autism Awareness Month with virtual events

The Oakland University Center for Autism is offering a free virtual event series for Autism Awareness Month in April. The series will highlight various topics, including World Autism Day, jobs in the autism field, personal insights about living with autism, and autism research at OU. 

Autism Series Kick-off on World Autism Awareness Day 
Friday, April 2, Noon *This is World Autism Awareness Day*
Kick off this virtual series on Autism Awareness Day with former Michigan Lieutenant Governor and current OU Trustee Brian Calley.

Working with People with Autism: Opportunities through OU
Thursday, April 8, Noon-1 p.m.
This session is designed for students and pre-professionals wanting to learn more about what employment opportunities exist in the field of autism and how OU programs can help you take the steps to attain your professional goals.

Insights from a Late Autism Diagnosis
Thursday, April 15, 6-7 p.m.  
Presented by Tracey Cohen, a woman diagnosed with autism at the age of 39. She shares what she has learned and how she uses her new insight to improve her life and to try to help others on the spectrum as well as their families, friends, and the community at large. 

Collaborations and Innovations: Recent Research from the OU Center for Autism
Thursday, April 22, Noon-1 p.m.  
This session is designed for OU faculty in particular, but is open to anyone interested in learning about autism research at OU.

Events will be held via Zoom. To register for one or more events, complete the Google Form or email the Oakland University Center for Autism at ouca@oakland.edu.
