Due to the rash of inclement weather this winter resulting in multiple school closings, loss of instructional time, and business closings; the organizers of the Southeast Michigan STEM Summit have moved the event to May 3-4, 2019
Connections and Opportunities
 
The Southeast Michigan STEM Summit will focus on ensuring a STEM education conduit that provides access to rewarding and productive careers, and supports the promise of continued economic prosperity and growth across the region.
 
The Southeast Michigan STEM Summit is designed to bring a cross sector of stakeholders together to examine the status and needs of Southeast Michigan in addressing current and evolving talent needs through STEM education. The focus will be on connections and opportunities; connecting skill development and instructional applications to career pathway needs, connecting educators and business in an evolving collaborative system, and seizing opportunities to engage students in expanding STEM learning opportunities that provide career pathway preparation for college and careers. The event also includes special programming and pricing for parents, young students, and college and university students.
 
Through presentations, panel discussions, exhibits, and networking attendees will identify and increase awareness of promising STEM practices and programs that provide models of measurable success along the various stages of the pipeline.  This event will provide for collaboration among educators workforce professionals, business leaders, policymakers, community and nonprofit organizations, and other active participants in STEM education & workforce and economic development as well as parents and students.

ABOUT THE SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN STEM ALLIANCE
 
The Southeast Michigan STEM Alliance is one of 68 STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice provided worldwide through the national STEM Funders Network and supported by the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES).  STEM Learning Ecosystems provide the architecture for cross-sector learning, offering all young people access to STEM-rich learning environments so they can develop important skills and engagement in science, technology, engineering and math throughout preK-16.  Strong STEM Learning Ecosystems feature dynamic collaborations among schools, out-of-school time programs, STEM expert institutions (such as museums, science centers, institutions of higher education and STEM professional associations), the private sector, community-based organizations, youth and families.
