University of Detroit Mercy appoints nationally recognized leaders to Board of Trustees

DETROITUniversity of Detroit Mercy is pleased to announce the appointment of Georgette Morrow ’68 and Saad J. Nadhir ’80 to the University’s board of trustees. 
Dr. Antoine M. Garibaldi, president of Detroit Mercy, believes that the experience and expertise that Morrow and Nadhir bring to the board will further enhance the University’s regional and national reputation.    
“Ms. Morrow has enjoyed a career of distinction in the fields of accounting and finance at CBS Entertainment and Television Studios and she will be a tremendous asset to Detroit Mercy,” he said. “Mr. Nadhir’s extensive experience as an entrepreneur and lawyer will also enhance the strategic direction of the University.  We are honored that Ms. Morrow and Mr. Nadhir have agreed to share their time and talents with their alma mater.”
Georgette Morrow
Georgette Morrow has served in the accounting and finance fields for a number of years. From June 2005 to January 2016, she served as the executive vice president of Finance for CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Studios. In this role, she was responsible for all financial matters, including oversight of budgeting, planning, forecasting, strategy and accounting for all business segments. In addition, she played a critical role in the structuring, acquiring, licensing and production of programming for CBS and other network and cable platforms.
Subsequently, she was appointed senior advisor to the CEO and COO of CBS in January 2016. She was instrumental in the formation of new joint ventures for the production of creative content for network television, cable, streaming and international distribution. She retired from this position in June 2017.
During her more than 35-year career at CBS, Morrow worked in many different capacities, including financial planning, accounting, financial reporting, program planning and internal audit, where she evaluated financial and operational systems worldwide throughout CBS. Prior to joining CBS, Morrow was an audit supervisor with KPMG.
She is currently a member of the finance committee for Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles and previously served as a member of the audit committee for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles.
Morrow is a graduate of Detroit Pershing High School and graduated in 1968 with a B.S. in Accounting from University of Detroit. She also holds a CPA license (inactive).
Saad J. Nadhir
Nadhir is currently the chief executive officer and controlling member of Urban Plates Holding LLC, a fast-casual restaurant in the San Diego area with 15 units. He is also a majority owner and controlling member of PCS Mobile Solutions, LLC, a top 10 dealer (75 stores) for the Sprint Corporation, based in Farmington Hills, Mich.
Prior to Urban Plates Holding LLC, Nadhir served as chairman, chief executive officer and one of the co-founders of Waldo’s Dollar Mart-Mexico, a single price point retailer in Mexico, which now has more than 300 stores in operation. He was also the co-chairman and CEO of Boston Market, where he helped build that chain from 20 restaurants to more than 1,000 retail units throughout the United States with more than $1 billion in annual sales.  Additionally, he helped direct the creation and development of Einstein Bagels from 10 units to more than 400 across the U.S.
Before joining Boston Market, Nadhir was the chief midwest development officer and head of International Development and Operations for the Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. He oversaw all business and real estate development activities for Blockbuster’s largest franchisee and area developer based in the Chicago, Ill., area. Later he headed up the international development efforts of Blockbuster Video, where he was responsible for Asia, Europe and Latin America.
He practiced law with major firms in Michigan, Texas and California prior to focusing on business and development opportunities.
Nadhir earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, a Juris Doctor in 1980 from University of Detroit and a Master of Laws from the University of Miami.
