The global supply chain management program at the Mike Ilitch School of Business continues its upward trend with a significant jump in the 2019 SCM Journal List rankings. Ranked 229 out of 414 programs in 2015, the Ilitch School has moved up to 55 among empirical SCM programs, which puts our program in the top 13 percent worldwide.

John Taylor, chair of the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, said that this is a tremendous accomplishment for the program and credited colleague TingTing Yan as one of the key contributors to the huge improvement for her academic publications in various journals.

“We strive to have a balanced set of achievements,” said Taylor. “It’s very important to us to not only put our students in positions to be successful but also to ensure that we stay committed to producing strong research.”

The annual University Rankings accounts for publications during the prior five years and is based on output in primarily empirically-focused journals (e.g. Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Logistics and Journal of Supply Chain Management), according to the SCM Journal List website.

The SCM Journal List is governed by the SCM Congress, which is composed of scholars from many of the leading supply chain management programs throughout the world, and which reviews the journals encompassed within the list every four years.

Wayne State University's Mike Ilitch School of Business is an established leader in global supply chain management education and research. In 2018, both the undergraduate and graduate programs were ranked among the nation’s top 25 according to Gartner, a leading industry research company that releases rankings every other year.
