Daniel Turner joins Beaumont Children’s as Chief, Pediatric Cardiology

Professor. Researcher. Author and innovator. These are just a few career highlights from newly appointed Beaumont Children’s Chief of Pediatric Cardiology, Daniel Turner, M.D.
 
In his new role, Dr. Turner will treat pediatric cardiology patients and work to expand the continuum of care for adult cardiology patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
 
“Dr. Turner has been a pioneer in developing and delivering innovative treatment to the youngest and most vulnerable patients throughout his career,” said Brian Berman, M.D., Beaumont Health chair of Pediatrics. “As demand for pediatric cardiology continues to grow, we are proud and grateful Dr. Turner will lead Beaumont Children’s in providing high-quality, patient and family-centered care.”  
 
Most recently, he practiced at Children’s Hospital of Michigan where he honed a reputation for tenacity and compassion since starting there in 2001.
 
Dr. Turner became co-director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 2011.
 
“I am thrilled to bring my passion and abilities to the team at Beaumont Children’s,” Dr. Turner said.  
 
Additional accomplishments include: serving as investigator for many funded research grants, primarily focused on the most innovative intra-cardiac devices; and principal site investigator for numerous multicenter trials.  
 
Dr. Turner has published more than 40 peer reviewed articles, four book chapters along with countless abstracts, posters and national presentations.
 
He is a professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and will soon be appointed to the senior faculty at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
 
“Top Doctor” recognitions include Hour Detroit Magazine, Best Doctors in America and U.S. News & World Report.
 
Dr. Turner earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester following a residency at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton where he also served as chief resident.
 
His pediatric cardiology fellowship training was completed at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, followed by an additional fellowship in pediatric congenital interventional cardiac catheterization at the University of California, San Francisco.
 
He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the 1990s where he received various medals and commendations.
