General Helper - Building Safety

Job Description

Under direct supervision, maintains a watch on County owned buildings. Periodically patrols assigned buildings. Checks for any signs of unauthorized entry, or immediate hazards such as fires or other dangers to the building security. Reports any problems to the appropriate authorities. May be assigned to perform radio communication duties. Shift assignments include nights, weekends, holidays and may require relief work on another shift. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicant must:

1.  Have passed their 18th birthday; OR be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirements for the General Educational Development Test (GED); OR be an emancipated minor.
2.  Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
NOTE: A valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license will be required for certain positions.  Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license (for positions which require driving).
