Job Description

The final goal of the Chief Engineer role is to ensure compliance of all process designs and all technologies that are applied during the processing phase of a project and the continuity of that process design intent / technology through the life of the project.

Responsible to drive the project integration first hand from Proposal phase through Process Engineering and as a secondary manager / advisor to the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) through the life of the Project Execution (design, procurement, manufacturing, in-house integration, installation at customer site) up to final acceptance.

Works in full cooperation with Comau project Team (including representatives from Engineering, Project and Site Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing) and Customer project team representatives.

In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities:


  • Validation of innovative solutions. Guarantee whole system functionalities respecting cycle-time and product quality.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends changes that improve productivity, reduce cost, eliminate waste and improve the overall business. Focused on Cost and Content Management of Projects
  • Maintenance of Seed Tool applications and documentation / costs with P&E
  • Assignment of Seed Tool applications to projects as part of Quote / Process Engineering phase
  • Act as technical interface to customer. Maintain good relationships with customers through quick effective feedback
  • Attends Project Meetings along with Scheduling meetings with technologies suppliers
  • Be the Key stakeholder in Handover gate from Process to Engineering
  • Collaborate to Identify new project risks and Track and record updates status and changes from the original scope with the PEM and PE
  • Create documentation compliant with customer standard
  • Other duties as required

Do you have what it takes?

This role is best suited for a candidate that possess the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • Engineering degree preferred
  • Previous experiences
  • Experience in specific technology process (Laser, Vision, GMAV, SPR,FDS, Hemming, Sealing, Welding)
  • Significant customer site working experience
  • English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of technology of metallurgy materials, industrial automation and robotics
  • Customer manufacturing processes and Internal manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Proficient in specific customer's standard (in case of Platform Organization Matrix)
  • Reliability Analysis and Problem solving
  • Experience in proven Manufacturing technologies such as Vision systems, welding, sealing, etc. With Knowledge of electrical drawings and documentation including Health & Safety Risk management
