Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs duties requiring expert ability in one or more of the following structural, finishing or mechanical building crafts: carpentry, electrical, masonry, welding, plumbing/pipefitting, and/or heating, cooling and refrigeration or related craft fields.  Performs the skilled and difficult repair, alteration and modernization work required in the maintenance of either Oakland County facilities and equipment or Park and Recreation buildings, facilities and pool mechanisms. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

When completing the application if applicable, provide full detail in the employment history section noting the skills, experience and hours worked per week pertaining to the minimum qualifications. 

At the time of application, applicants must:

1.  Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test.

2.  Have had at least four (4) years of full-time work experience in a position involving one or more of the following building, craft and/or mechanical fields: carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing,pipe fitting, welding, heating and air-conditioning/refrigeration.
3.   Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.
4.   Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this class.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
