Under direction, prepares construction drawings and specifications and/or reviews or interprets submitted construction drawings and specifications by outside design firms.  Performs survey and inspection work relative to County facilities.  Inspects related architectural, landscape architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering construction.  Prepare reports on construction progress, proposed changes, and field problems.  Confers with department management, consulting engineers and contractors and plans and designs constructions projects involving building and/or site remodeling and alteration or modification of other County proposed work projects.  Coordinates master planning/design efforts with outside firms and reviews final plans and specifications for compliance with County and municipal requirements.  Evaluates bids received and makes recommendations on award of contracts. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

At the time of application, applicants must:

1. Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or related field from an accredited college or university AND

NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (  The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.

2. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time architecture, engineering, or construction management experience; OR

3. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time work experience using CAD software to create construction drawings for architectural and building restoration projects.

NOTE: A Master's degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement above.

4. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

6. Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
