General Helper / Grounds Part-Time

Job Description

Under close supervision, performs entry-level unskilled manual work. May perform the following tasks depending upon the assigned division: digs, shovels and rakes grounds; cleans work sites, sewers, drains and catch basins or performs other routine unskilled work as assigned.  Is alert to hazards and follows department safety and emergency procedures.  May be scheduled for a day, afternoon or midnight shift, including weekends and holidays. 

Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application applicants must:

1.  Have passed their 18th birthday; OR be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirements for the General Educational Development Test (GED); OR be an emancipated minor.
2.  Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
NOTE: A valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license will be required for certain positions.  Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license (for positions which require driving).
