Job Description

Under general supervision, performs a variety of moderately complex professional accounting functions involved in the maintenance and review of the more difficult and responsible departmental or County-wide funds and fiscal accounts. Maintains or ensures the maintenance of a complete set of accounting books including journals and general ledgers for assigned funds and/or fiscal accounts. Posts or ensures posting is made to proper accounts, maintains accounting controls and periodically adjusts and closes accounts. Prepares financial and statistical statements summarizing accounting records and transactions for cost analysis and budget preparation. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

At the time of application, applicants must:

1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field with a minimum of 16 semester hours in accounting; AND

2. Have had two (2) years of full-time professional accounting experience.

NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the degree areas listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this class.
4. Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
