Event Description:

Join Johnston Hall, product engineer for Omron, for a Tech Takeover that explores how manufacturers can uncover the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Big Data promises of increased productivity in an ever-changing industry.

As economic historian Paul David once stated, much of the credit to the 1920s productivity boom in American manufacturing was due in large part to manufacturers finally figuring out how to use electricity, a technology that was nearly 50 years old.

Some argue that we are still trying to grasp the productivity gains promised with the advent of the programmable controllers and personal computing in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

With the IIoT revolution, it is clear that manufacturing needs to challenge the prevailing automation architecture and to start with a foundation that is comprised of simple building blocks that can be reconfigured, resequenced, and recycled into more complex structures.
