Event Description:

Today, everywhere we turn, industry is vying for skilled individuals to create a pipeline that will sustain the workforce. While there is a need for individuals who have a certain set of technical skills, more importantly, industry continues to state the obvious: a need for someone who will show up on time and individuals who fit the culture of the company.

What if you could begin to build your own pipeline with student learner trainees? When you partner with secondary education, you enter into the world of work-based learning and a partnership that can build awareness, interest and the future workforce you are looking to create.

Work-Based Learning is a high school component that allows advanced career technical education (CTE) students to leave the traditional classroom setting to engage with selected industry partners to enhance the instructional curriculum and learning.

Are you interested in exploring how work-based learning might support your goal of creating a pipeline of sustainable talent? Work-Based Learning makes it possible for you to preview the talent of tomorrow, today!

Let Oakland Schools help you navigate the work-based learning system. In partnership with Automation Alley, Oakland Schools is offering employers in Oakland County the opportunity to learn more about work-based learning through sessions designed just for industry. During each session, we will cover the following questions:

• Who can participate?
• What is the benefit for industry?
• Where does WBL take place?
• When can I begin receiving student placements?
• How does the process of WBL and its requirements work?
