Ducatman appointed chief medical officer, Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak020

Dr. Barbara Ducatman has been appointed chief medical officer for Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak and associate dean of clinical affairs at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine effective April 1. She is replacing Dr. Leslie Rocher, who is retiring after 41 years as a physician and 30 years with Beaumont.
Dr. Ducatman joined Beaumont Health in 2017. Since then, she has served as chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for Beaumont Health and chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Beaumont, Royal Oak. She is also a professor of pathology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
“I’m pleased Dr. Ducatman will serve as our next chief medical officer,” said Nancy Susick, president, Beaumont, Royal Oak. “Her expertise, experience and leadership were key to the restructuring and the enhancement of our laboratory program.”
Before coming to Beaumont, Dr. Ducatman dedicated 21 years to West Virginia University School of Medicine, where she held various leadership positions. Her recent position was Pathology department chair and founding associate dean for Faculty Services.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ducatman has received numerous awards and honors, including the Swatek Lectureship Award from Loma Linda University School of Medicine; Dean’s Award for Excellence: Dedication to the Profession of Medicine and Nominee for Distinguished Teacher Award from West Virginia University.
Dr. Ducatman is president of the Association of Pathology Chairs and sits on international, national, state and organizational committees. She also worked at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ducatman was a lieutenant commander for the U.S. Public Health Service from 1992-1996 and a lieutenant commander for the U.S. Navy from 1983-1986.
She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College and has a Bachelor of Science in biology. Dr. Ducatman served her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
