Job Description
Strategic Buyer – Raw Materials Responsibilities
  • Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • The Strategic Buyer is responsible for global steel procurement as well as other materials and products by coordinating with each business unit
  • This position is responsible to identify potential suppliers, negotiate and optimize materials and service sourcing, supplier development and to ensure the supplier meets quality, delivery and cost savings goals in a manner that is consistent with the “Company” values and operating philosophy
  • Negotiate pricing with vendors and ensure material meets customer requirements of quality and delivery
  • Follow through on T+C’s, pricing agreement and warranty to protect the company’s interests
  • Define commodity strategy and understand market trends and latest technology to explore potential opportunities to improve profit margin and efficiency for the company
  • Identify and develop new suppliers
  • Manage business system to set-up, maintain, and improve; reorder points, inventory turns, outages, kanban, consignment materials, and vendor managed inventory
 
Strategic Buyer – Raw Materials Requirements
  • 7+ years minimum experience in materials or supply chain related field in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years as a steel commodity buyer preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred
  • Fiscal responsibility – follow fiscal guidelines, regulations, principles and standard when committing fiscal resources or processing financial transactions
  • Personal credibility – demonstrated concern that one be perceived as responsible, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Persuasive communication – the ability to plan and deliver oral and written communications that make an impact and persuade their intended audience
  • Building collaborative relationships – the ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support
  • Walking – ability to walk the manufacturing floor for extended periods of time
  • Travel – ability to travel domestically
