Job Description

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for a number of diverse duties and projects which may include developing manufacturing methods and processes, writing operation sheets for products or tools, troubleshooting manufacturing problems, reviewing drawings and designs during the development phase, or preparing time studies and estimates for sales.
  • Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, or methods of manufacturing, including make or buy decisions and facilities layout as required for new or revised products (oversee 5S and lean projects).
  • Authority to implement and modify manufacturing plans.
  • Work with a manufacturing budget.
  • Large purchases require supervisory approval.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred).
  • Master's in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Six (6) years of experience of manufacturing systems, product launch, supplier development, inspection, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to develop manufacturing plans, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, lean manufacturing, etc.
  • Proven cost reduction and quality improvement experience.
  • Ten (10) years of experience working with production manufacturing development and process improvement on low volume multi-year production jobs involving high part count preferred.
  • Six Sigma black or green belt preferred.
  • Skills include: Machining, fixture design, production gauge design (including strong GD&T background), cycle time reduction, manufacturing statistics (Cp, Cpk, Ppk, SPC, etc), metallurgy, casting process, material removal process, inspection and quality, tooling selection, manufacturing troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, cycle time and manufacturing efficiency calculations, supplier development, ability to read and comprehend blueprints, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills. Strong communication skills with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write plans and reports. Team player, confident, motivated and trustworthy. Ability to manage deadlines and multitask.
