Job Description
Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Manager Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic guidance to the team with responsibility for moving legacy hosted apps. onto modern platforms
  • Participates in the planning of future-state objectives and ties these to technologies
  • Creates plans and pipelines for the gradual cutover or migration to these technologies
  • Once implemented maintain services once they are live
  • Manages coordination between other teams and Site Reliability resources, generating a pipeline of work and performing the resource planning necessary to hit objectives
  • Provides project oversight and progress reporting for all projects and tasks assigned to the Site Reliability Team
  • Captures and defines requirements and scope, communicates and coordinates timelines and progress, holds the team accountable for delivering on-time
  • Manage a team of professionals that includes hiring, establishing goals, performance and other managerial functions
  • Seeks synergies and leads sharing of best practices amongst IT teams and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee that communication and collaboration takes place with Development teams to design our application stack for an enhanced digital presence, performance, and availability on multiple cloud services
  • Review the results of post-mortem reviews of system down time with internal stakeholders to put short- and long-term solutions in place to eliminate repeat occurrences
  • Conduct risk analysis to review system shortcomings that present risk of downtime for application stacks
  • Continuously improve our internal processes and controls to ensure optimal performance
  • Responsible for directing the planning and implementation of DevOps changes and rollouts and shepherding deployment in a manner leading to optimal results
  • Ensures systems are available through proactive monitoring and failover and provides systems reporting to internal customers
  • Combine software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems
  • SRE ensures our internally critical and our externally-visible systems have reliability and uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity and performance
  • Oversee the development of dashboards which communicate and alert on the overall system health to less technical colleagues and the development of system configuration management templates
  • Manage work with developers to quickly identify and address issues to provide smooth code rollouts and seamless change back-out when there are problems
 
Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Manager Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of Linux systems administration experience. Apache, Tomcat, Wildfly and .Net or .NET Core hosting, scripting and automation skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing technical teams, including hiring, coaching and team performance; and the team’s ability to respond to client issues
  • Working knowledge and experience of networking fundamentals
  • Expert experience in both high-availability and load-balancing technologies
  • Prior experience managing the documentation of technical processes
  • Prior experience training internal stakeholders or less experienced staff on complex technical information
  • Demonstrated work prioritization skills and evidence of managing in a fast pace, changing environment
  • Evidence effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain technical and non-technical information to all levels of the organization
