Job Description
Project / Plant Engineer Responsibilities
  • The Project / Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring safe, environmentally responsible and reliable operations are supported by effective and efficient project process
  • Ensure the plant engineering needs are met through Engineering Project, Design and Troubleshooting support
  • Execute small cap (10K to 500K) Capital projects
  • Execute small cap cost project as needed in conjunction with Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure the best project practices are implemented, sourcing and purchasing is in alignment with the Clients policy and the projects are executed within the safety guidelines of the client
  • Ensure design and construction is in alignment with RAGAGEP and national codes like NFPA, NEC, API, ASME etc.
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair process and equipment upsets
  • Perform MOCs, PSSRs, and Validations etc. in alignment with client policy
  • Ensure daily execution of the project work gets performed in a safe, quality and cost effective manner
  • Gain a thorough working knowledge of Clients Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures
  • Serve as the ES&H representative to plant personnel through communication and enforcement of ES&H policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership through participation in ES&H initiatives and programs
  • Actively drive the recognition and rewarding of positive ES&H performance by plant personnel
  • Ensure that ES&H action items are effectively accomplished and tracked to closure
  • Participate in ES&H meetings and training forums
  • Respond to ES&H incidents through prompt and thorough reporting, incident investigation, and root cause identification and action item implementation
  • Assist in tracking and communication of ES&H performance metrics
  • Provide input to improve ES&H performance compared to metrics
 
Project / Plant Engineer Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical, food, chemicals or petrochemical industry
  • Experience has to be in executing projects in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Good technical capability is a requirement to execute the projects effectively
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Should be able to communicate with the subject matter experts and analyze the technologies to get best possible results
  • Committed to continuous improvement of safety, environment, customer service, operations and quality performance
  • Knowledgeable and effective in the use of standard computer software programs and database systems; SAP, Microsoft Suit, SharePoint etc.
  • Strong understating of the plant safety principles and practices
  • Knowledge of PSM practices will be a plus
  • Should be able to lead mechanical, electrical and process improvement projects
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of project management, front-end engineering and relevant project planning and scheduling tools will be an advantage
  • An effective team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation, technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to initiate plans and carry out all assignments professionally, diligently and expeditiously in accordance with established company procedures
