Job Description
Materials Laboratory Technician Responsibilities
  • Technician will be required to perform a wide variety of tasks associated with the specification, testing, and analysis of various materials and processes used in the manufacturing of automotive components
  • Focus specifically on polymer and organic materials as well as lubricants and aqueous materials
  • Develop materials testing and analysis skills while becoming familiar with steel, iron, aluminum, copper, nickel, and titanium alloys and the processes
Materials Laboratory Technician Requirements
  • Experience with general office computer tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and office communications
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Material Science Degree or working towards a degree in, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry
  • 2-5 years of materials testing experience preferred
  • Ability to operate laboratory test and analysis equipment typically used in material characterization / investigations
  • Familiarity with any of the following would be advantageous:
  • Scanning Electron Microscope
  • Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
  • Thermal Gravimetric Analysis
  • Microscopy
  • X-ray scanning CT
  • Non-destructive testing and evaluation
