Job Description
Controls Engineer Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all equipment controls are up to date and operational
  • Minimize and control assembly downtime related to equipment issues
  • Design and implement equipment changes related to electrical and pneumatic controls, as well as provide training relative to those changes
  • Promote and investigate new concepts and advances in manufacturing techniques and equipment advantageous to manufacturing
  • Develop, design and implement equipment to produce quality products
  • Support continuous improvement program (CIP) / Kaizen projects to increase productivity and equipment longevity while reducing costs
  • Share in keeping the workplace environment safe by ensuring that all guarding is in place and operative and all production equipment is running correctly, efficiently, and safety
  • Support fabrication of equipment for manufacturing
  • Enforce machine design standards
  • Provide controls support to other departments of business as needed
  • Expert assistance with all aspects of controls in the business (i.e. controllers, logic and hydraulic systems)
  • Set-up, train and implement troubleshooting guides to all maintenance & controls employees
Controls Engineer Requirements
  • Associate / Bachelor's degree or four years related experience in the field
  • All experience needs to be in the field of industrial controls
  • Flow chart programming preferred
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, SLC & MicroLogix series programmable controllers required
  • Experience with machine vision inspections, including programming of inspections and setting up of inspections with proper lighting
  • Must have a working knowledge of Windows based computer programs on a variety of operating systems (i.e. 2000 Pro, XP Pro, & Windows 7), should have experience working spread sheets, database & word processing programs
  • Position also requires mechanical proficiency (i.e. mechanical fabrication, welding, etc)
