Job Description
The Applications Engineer (C&PV) performs a variety of application engineering and customer support related tasks in the planning and development of new products, as well as implementation of existing products. This role is responsible for engineering related tasks, both in testing and analyses, supporting the Commercial and Passenger Vehicle business unit. This person must work with high energy and possess a proven ability to bring successful closure to projects.

Duties:
  • Responsible for the design and development of new and current products; participate in Product Design Reviews
  • Coordinate and schedule prototype builds and testing
  • Assist in the preparation of quotation packages; create engineering drawings as required to facilitate changes in production
  • Evaluate proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility on the product and process prior to implementation
  • Identify potential customer key product characteristics and communicate to the team
  • Review product design models for analysis, interfacing with CAD designers to develop and improve designs
  • Perform design studies and stack-ups; scope, perform and/or review FEA analyses as appropriate
  • Work with cross-functional test engineers to define and schedule tests that support product development initiatives, and perform post-processing of data as necessary to evaluate results
  • Interpret testing results and develop correlation with analogous results from FEA analyses
  • Analyze failure modes and develop corrective actions to new and current products
  • Explore design change opportunities to improve manufacturing, product reliability and/or cost utilizing VA/VE and DFM/DFA
  • Participate in Control Plan construction, especially by leading the construction of DFMEAs
  • Responsible for material and component specification including critical features
  • Support documentation and the development of accurate product literature
  • Coordinate engineering initiatives with engineering peers in multiple international locations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), BSME, or other related field required
  • 5+ years of related experience required; OEM/Tier 1 automotive experienced preferred (GM, Ford, or FCA)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Electrical Engineering experience necessary; experience with development of refrigeration products is desirable
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs required; experience with CAD software programs necessary
  • Professional presentation skills and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations required
  • Ability to work independently and be highly accountable and goal oriented
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external customers
  • Possess a sense of urgency and ability to effectively prioritize
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
