Job Description
Test Equipment Technician Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinates all test equipment related activities for test / prototype departments
  • Is self-disciplined and undertakes planning for test equipment and measurement activities
  • Key member for all business units in regards to test equipment, measurements and test methods
  • Influences test equipment design and development to ensure realistic testing methods in regards to vehicle conditions, customer and internal requirements and specifications
  • Supports procurement planning and realization for all business units and coordinates with cost center manager
  • Planning and realization of test equipment procurements in teamwork with the requestor
  • Takes care of all preventive maintenance, maintenance and repair activities (all test equipment including climate chambers) to ensure failure-free operations of all equipment (includes ordering of spare parts)
  • Coordinates the continuous calibration activities of all test equipment as input for the quality department which coordinates the calibration of measurement equipment e.g. gauges or sensors etc.
  • Is responsible for troubleshooting on different test equipment
  • Supports different measurement requests including: basic knowledge in software programming, programmable controller programming (for ex. Siemens S7 / Logo or Allen Bradley) and Diadem measurements and analysis
  • Has basic knowledge in bus systems (for ex. CAN / LIN)
  • Implements and maintains measurement equipment administration and tracking system
  • Performs trainings for test stands, test-, measurement- and data acquisition methods
 
Test Equipment Technician Requirements
  • Experienced in electrical trouble shooting in low voltage systems using a multi meter and other measurement tools
  • Experienced in using electrical / mechanical tools (crimper, wire stripper, soldering iron, drill, hammer, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical components (e.g. relays, diodes, resistors, power supplies, etc.)
  • Capable of reading and understanding electrical schematics, block diagrams and wire plans
  • Knowledge of fixture building, properties of different materials and fabrication techniques
  • Knowledge in metal fabrication / machining (Mill, Lathe, etc)
  • Experience in programming PLC’s (ideally with programming language CoDeSys)
  • Experience in building electrical controls and / or wire harnesses
