Job Description
Quality Lab Supervisor Responsibilities
  • Interface with Quality, Engineering and Production to ensure inspection methods, processes and systems and components are in accordance with customer requirements and the QMS
  • Lead Metrologists and Sediment Technician activities, especially related to programming and operating CMM, 3D Scanning and related equipment and devices
  • Develop schedule and monitor maintenance and calibration of inspection equipment
  • Assist with collecting, collating, and reporting test and inspection results in required formats
  • Schedule / Manage workflow through the CMM and Quality Inspection areas
  • Supports risk assessments (DFMEA), in-process inspection, and final component inspection
  • Develop and deploy gage calibration system
  • Perform CMM inspection of component fixtures, gages and tools, as required
  • Coordinate calibrations for inspection, measuring, and test equipment with 3rd party accredited vendors ensuring proper handling, storage, packaging, preservation, and delivery
  • Review certificates of calibration and maintains records of calibrations
  • Train and assist Production, Quality and Engineering personnel in proper handling, use and care of measurement devices and inspection equipment
  • Perform calibrations and preventive maintenance for quality inspection equipment
  • Approve systems and components of finished product and release to ship
  • Report deviations, non-conformances, product or process issues to Quality management using appropriate forms
  • Participate in problem solving and provide recommended corrective actions
  • Follow safe work practices, comply with policies and procedures, use equipment and tools properly and safely, identify and report unsafe acts or conditions
 
Quality Lab Supervisor Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in technical field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in lab supervision
  • Working knowledge of APQP, GD&T, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, and familiarity with the requirements of IATF16949 and ISO17025 certification and reporting
  • Minimum of 4 years of layout inspection experience
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD files, drawings, and applicable specifications
  • The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50+ pounds
  • Proficiency in CMM programing and operation, dimensional metrology, measurement, inspection methods, and calibration
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work amongst cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • 10% or less travel and ability to periodically work non-traditional business hours to support local and international suppliers
