Job Description
Project Buyer Responsibilities
  • Partner with design teams throughout Product Development process to manage BOM cost through Product Launch
  • New product supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting for the TIS division
  • New product component identification, alternative selection and sourcing expertise in electronics
  • Mechanical sourcing experience
  • Diecast, Molding components
  • Bring Design to Value (Manufacturing, Quality, Cost, etc.) viewpoint to Product design team
  • Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decision
  • Aggressively negotiate terms as required and in accordance with internal policies
  • Negotiate legal terms under the guidance of the internal legal support team
  • Improve New Product Sourcing processes and increase efficiencies by partnering with technical design teams
  • Apply appropriate category strategies (Metals, Plastics, Electronics, and Outsourcing etc.) to new product sourcing needs
  • Proactive supply risk management in the new product development process
  • Monitor sourcing and procurement innovation trends in the marketplace
 
Project Buyer Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline
  • 5 or more years’ experience in the sourcing and procurement function focused on direct spend
  • 2 years’ experience in New Product Development or New Product Introduction Sourcing
  • 1 or more years’ experience in sourcing electrical and mechanical components and interpreting blueprint specifications and drawings
  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive accountability
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization as well as deliver oral presentations on moderately complex subject matter
  • Demonstrated experience driving cross functional collaboration across business units and geographies
  • Travel Up to 15%
