Product Engineer – CAE / FEA Responsibilities

  • Frequent travel to “Company” manufacturing locations and customer facilities
  • The Product Engineer is in charge of design creation and product engineering development from concept design to production launch
  • Following APQP methodology to ensure successful and timely program launches, transfers, and engineering changes, which maximize customer satisfaction and optimize internal goals and objectives
  • Design creation including troubleshooting and approval following customer's requirements, company's best practices, Design For Assembly, Design For Manufacturing (casting, machining) and APQP to meet the project milestones
  • Perform CAE analysis and direct CAD modifications to optimize the design per the requirement
  • Approve and release prints and GD&T (ASME)
  • BOM, DFMEA, DVP&R, Engineering Specification
  • Initiate and track internal Engineering Change Request and Engineering Change Notice
  • Identify special product characteristics
  • Lead design reviews
  • Develops, maintains and executes VA / VE items
  • Serves as the primary contact for the customer technical liaison
  • Obtain design approvals
  • Communicate extensively with our global engineering and manufacturing teams (USA / Europe / China)
  • Supports and attends trials and launches at customer as needed
  • Lead technical interfaces with customers / suppliers engineering teams
Product Engineer – CAE / FEA Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • CAD / CAE Software preferable:  Catia / UG, Hyperworks, Abaqus, DesignLife
  • Product design, development, and manufacturing including GD&T
  • Customer & industry product standards for quality and delivery (APQP)
  • Product and process specific timing
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of people effectively, in group and individual settings including vendors / suppliers / customers
  • Good oral / written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills
  • Manufacturing knowledge or experience (machining, casting, assembly, and automation processes)
