Oakland County manufacturers are invited to attend a virtual info session Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. to learn about Automation Alley's Personal Protective Equipment Resilience Grant Program to see if your company qualifies for a financial investment to purchase Industry 4.0 and state-of-the art digital technologies. Funded by Oakland and Macomb Counties, the grant program was created to address the urgent need to move companies into digital manufacturing as fast as possible to help position our region as an agile, digital-ready essential source of manufactured goods like PPE in times of national crisis while improving our response to future disruptions.

A separate virtual session will be held for Macomb manufacturers on Aug. 26 at 11 a.m.


Tom Kelly, CEOAutomation Alley

Tom Kelly is a globally recognized expert on Industry 4.0 and its impact on business. As executive director and CEO of Automation Alley, Michigan's Industry 4.0 knowledge center, Kelly oversees strategic planning and all ongoing activities for the organization, including programs and services designed to help businesses increase revenue, reduce costs and make strategic decisions during a time of rapid technological change.


Sean CarlsonDeputy County Executive, Oakland County

Sean Carlson serves as an Oakland County Deputy Executive. He oversees the offices of Management & Budget, Information Technology, and Economic Development & Community Affairs. Prior to his appointment Carlson served as the executive director of the Michigan Defense Center. In this position he was a key architect of Michigan's "Protect & Grow" strategy to attract Department of Defense missions, to improve the aerospace and defense industry, and to assist small businesses in diversifying into the defense industry. He also served as vice president of the international trade program at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
